Mobility Authority Extends MoPac South Open House Comment Period

(Austin, Texas) – The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority)’s sixth open house for the MoPac South Project continues virtually at voh.mopacsouth.com.

The MoPac South Project Team launched Open House #6 in-person and virtually on Nov. 12, 2024, sharing information about the Recommended Build Alternative and environmental study. The virtual Open House and comment period, originally scheduled to remain open for 48 days, has now been extended an additional 30 days, through Tues., Jan. 28, 2025, providing a total of 78 days to submit comments.

The Recommended Build Alternative, 2C: Two Express Lanes with Elevated Ramps Near Barton Skyway, was determined from an extensive study process that analyzed five build alternatives, six operational configuration options of the Express Lane(s) Build Alternative, and public input over the course of more than 10 years. A No Build, or “do nothing” Alternative is being carried forward as a baseline for comparison.

“Public input has helped guide the Project into what it is today,” said James Bass, Executive Director for the Mobility Authority. “We want to make sure that as many people as possible have an opportunity to review the Recommended Build Alternative and provide questions and comments, while also noting that there will be additional opportunities for official public comment later in 2025 prior to the completion of the Environmental Assessment.”

As a reminder, the MoPac South Project team accepts comments and questions on the Project at all times via our primary Project inquiry page at mopacsouth.com.
