183A Toll Extension Opens
With the extended 183A Toll Road, drivers will enjoy almost 16-miles of non-stop travel between Liberty Hill and northwest Austin, now bypassing traffic signals at Hero Way, San Gabriel Parkway, Bryson Ridge Trail, and Whitewing Drive. Drivers who do not wish to use the toll road and pay a toll may continue to use the non-tolled general-purpose lanes of US 183.
“This is a fast-growing corridor in a fast-growing community so this new stretch of 183A Toll will bring much-needed congestion relief to Williamson County,” said James Bass, executive director of the Mobility Authority. “It will serve as a reliable, time-saving option for many commuters; but whether you chose to travel the toll road or not, all folks will experience a safer, easier commute along the corridor.”
The toll rate for a full-length trip on the roughly 5-mile 183A Toll extension is $2.38 for drivers with an electronic tag like TollTag or EZ Tag. For any questions about your electronic tag account, please contact your tag provider. While the critical components of the new 183A Toll Road will be open to traffic, drivers should note that there remains some roadway construction and other project elements to complete over the next several weeks as part of the 183A Phase III Project. Crews will continue work in the coming weeks to complete the final stretch of the 183A Toll main lanes which will allow drivers to bypass the signalized intersection at SH 29. This is in addition to the non-tolled improvements north of SH 29, the adjacent 7-mile Shared Use Path, and installation of landscaping and other aesthetic components. Until the full project is completed, the contractor will continue to implement necessary closures which will be posted to the 183A Phase III Project Website.
